Professor Patrick Brennan
CEO & Co-Founder
Patrick is a global leader of medical imaging optimisation and perception. He is Chair of Diagnostic Imaging at the University of Sydney and the world’s highest ranked researcher in Medical Radiation Sciences. His work has changed clinical practice, impacted upon national guidelines and informed international reports. His research has been disseminated through thirty-five keynote/plenary talks across five continents.
He has published over 300 original papers in the highest ranked radiological journals along with the seminal textbook Radiation Protection in Diagnostic X-ray Imaging (Jones and Bartlett Learning 2016). He has generated $24 million in research support. His publications have resulted in Patrick being the only recipient of two prestigious Honorary Fellowships from both Australia and Europe: the first ever Honorary Fellowship of the Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy; and the third Lifetime Fellowship ever awarded by the Irish Institute of Radiography and Radiation Therapy.
In 2018, he was conferred with the Payne-Scott Professorial Distinction by the University of Sydney.
Professor Mary Rickard
Chief Medical Officer and Co-Founder
Mary is a world recognised breast imaging radiologist with broad ranging expertise in imaging techniques and interpretation and in professional training. She is an Adjunct Professor within the Discipline of Medical Imaging Sciences at the University of Sydney. Her enthusiasm for raising the quality of breast imaging services began when she established Australia’s first pilot mammography screening programme in 1987, and was subsequently appointed as the first NSW State Radiologist for BreastScreen Australia in New South Wales.
She has published extensively and has been invited to teach in many countries across Europe and Asia, as well as in Australia and New Zealand. She has worked with government advisory and professional bodies in Australia and with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in developing quality standards for radiology practice.
Her work was recognised in 2002 with a Member of the Order of Australia Medal (OAM), for service to medicine through the integration of population-based screening for early detection of breast cancer, and the development of education programs for health professionals. In 2015 she was elected a Life Member of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the College and to the profession.
Dr Moe Suleiman
Chief Technical Officer and Co-Founder
Moe’s research focuses on exploring innovative technologies and techniques that improve the recognition of clinical indicators of disease, whilst minimising risk to the patient. His research on radiation dose optimisation has resulted in significant findings regarding the method utilised for the estimation of absorbed radiation dose; leading to the design of an updated method for the calculation of actual glandular dose and a better estimation of individualised absorbed radiation dose for women undergoing screening mammography.
Moe was awarded the John C. Harsanyi Medal for Innovation from the University of Sydney in 2020. His research has been disseminated through leading international journals and major international medical imaging meetings including the annual meetings of the European Congress and the International Society of Optical Engineering and Medical Imaging Perception Society. He is now a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Sydney and the Chief Technical Officer and Co-Founder of DetectED-X.
Moe is driven by translating research findings into improved outcomes for individuals globally.
Dr. Ziba Gandomkar
Senior AI Specialist and Data Scientist
Ziba is an Artificial Intelligence (AI) specialist and data scientist. She has over fifteen years of experience in computer programming and over nine years of experience in computer-aided medical image analysis and machine learning.
In recent years, Ziba has worked on the development of AI solutions for predicting a future breast cancer and determining radiologists’ errors while interpreting images, making diagnosis and grading cancers on breast histopathological slides. She has also worked extensively in the field of medical image perception and expertise development. For the first time, her work has provided evidence showing that radiologists have idiosyncratic scan paths consistent across all images and proposed an AI tool for determining readers’ expertise level based on their visual search behaviour.
Ziba has authored several papers in internationally-recognised journals and her works have been presented in many national and international conferences. She is passionate about harnessing the power of AI and data analytics to improve patient outcomes and medical education.
